A few words

The aim of the three-year research project “Ayios Vasileios, Laconia-Sector III. Deciphering a new Mycenaean palace in spacious Lacedaemon” was the conservation, the study and the publication of the findings from the excavation carried out at Sector III at the site of Ayios Vasileios in Laconia. For this reason, an interdisciplinary team of 17 researchers in the humanities and sciences from Greece and abroad was created. The program started on September 5, 2018 and ended on March 4, 2022. It was fully funded by the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (ELIDEK) in the amount of 170,000 euros. The scientific responsible of the program was Dr. Nektarios Karadimas. The program took place at the University of Crete, in the Department of History & Archeology, under the supervision of Professor  Katerina Kopaka.
